The “Big Switch On” launch preceded the club's weekly training night. Club members were invited to stay on and watch the players in action and enjoyed some mulled wine and food at the bar.

As mentioned in Chairman Richard Green's message welcoming club members to the 148th season, while the lights are of match quality, the installation was designed not to spill onto the areas surrounding the two training pitches.

When the floodlights are in use the natural lighting ambience of the club's perimeter remains much as if they were not switched on at all, as shown by Dick Curtis's photograph below.
