Clive Ashby, Once a Wasp, Always a Wasp

Clive Ashby, Once a Wasp, Always a Wasp

Dom Benson7 Jun 2015 - 11:45

It is with great sadness that Wasps mourn the passing of Clive Ashby who played at scrum half for Wasps and England.

Clive was one of the real characters of Wasps in and around the 1960s. Our hookers appreciated the subtle way he fed the ball into the scrum with just that little bit of spin!

Sadly Clive passed away on the 21st May, 2015, aged 78. His funeral is this coming Tuesday, 9th June, at 1pm at Chilterns Crematorium (Whielden Lane, Amersham, Buckinghamshire HP7 0ND).

Rest In Peace, Clive.

Once A Wasp, Always A Wasp

This photograph (from Wasps FC's Centenary book) shows Clive about to score against Australia at Twickenham on 7th January, 1967 (the match ended in a defeat by 11-23 - Richard Sharp, Wasps' stand off, captained England on the day).
