Allan Chukudi Isichei - Once a Wasp, Always a Wasp

Allan Chukudi Isichei - Once a Wasp, Always a Wasp

Dom Benson30 Sep 2019 - 06:07

It is with great sadness that Wasps FC mourns the passing of Vice President, Allan Isichei.

Wasps FC offers its heartfelt condolences to Allan's wife, Sandra, his children, Daniel, David and Emma - our thoughts and best wishes are with them.

The Club learned of the shocking news that Allan had been stabbed on his way home from his local on Saturday evening. Sadly, he passed away shortly afterwards in the arms of his wife of 44 years.

Vice Presidents at the Sesquicentenary Dinner, The Savoy Hotel, 16 February 2017

Allan spent many years playing in the back row with Bruce Peters and Alie Gray, and then at prop during the 1970s and 1980s. He continued coaching in Sudbury and then Acton. He was instrumental in rekindling Wasps FC's third team in 1998, and his most recent spell was with the 1st and 2nd teams during the club's recent successful run in London 3.

The son of Irish and Nigerian parents, Allan grew up in Kilburn. He attended Kilburn Grammar School and turned out for its old boys' team, Old Creightonians RFC, before joining Wasps FC in the 1970s. Allan also played six times for Hertfordshire in the County Championship.

His other great passion was jazz music and playing the saxophone. His Circle Band featured at many venues across West London.

The funeral arrangements are:

Tuesday 8th October
at Mortlake Crematorium, Kew Meadows Path, Richmond, TW9 4EN
followed by the wake at Wasps FC, Twyford Avenue, Acton, W3 9QA
All are welcome. The family asks that instead of flowers, if people wish, they may donate to the nominated charity.
